Toothless is playful and intelligent with a puppy-like energy. When flying through the dark, he shoots purple mixed blue flames called plasma blasts in all directions, which bounce off nearby surfaces to give him an accurate reading of his surroundings.

Toothless’ blue flame is said to be really hot so it’s probably a mixture of dicyanoacetylene, cyanogen, acetylene or diacetylene gas that would react with the Potassium or Magnesium Nitrates to produce the purple color when it explodes. The Potassium or Magnesium is being burned at such a high temperature that their emitting a purple color for their flame.
