Sam (Samuel) Bass is responsible for helping to free the slave, Solomon Northup, in Avoyelles parish, Louisiana. Solomon Northup’s story was made into the hit movie called “Twelve Years A Slave”. Sam Bass was portrayed by Actor, Brad Pitt, in the movie.

Bass is unsettled by the brutal way that Epps treats his slaves and expresses his opposition to American slavery, earning Epps’s enmity. Solomon overhears the conversation and decides to reveal his kidnapping to Bass.
